Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette Review

First, sorry for the long title, brands really need to cut those names down. Second, how pretty is this palette? Forget about the actual eyeshadows, but the packaging is so pretty and sleek. I’ve been obsessing over this palette for a while now, but I didn’t want to cave. I didn’t want to want it…. I failed and you know, that’s okay. It’s okay to fail and buy yourself a gorgeous new palette with gorgeous new shades.

This palette is so beautful, and I really do love the shades. Some are similar to the ones in my Bronze Kyshadow Palette, but there’s more variety and I love the couple of pink-ish shades. I am sure you all love how professional I sound describing these colors. Total expert. I think it has the necessary shades for an everyday look, but also a couple of shades that can be used for something more out there, night out or event.

I didn’t it want to swatch it with my fingers because the palette has more than 10 shades and I don’t have more than ten figers and I didn’t want to taint the lighter shades with residue of the darker shades, and I am sure this could’ve been avoided by having tissue nearby and cleaning my fingers in between swatches, buuuut I didn’t think of this at the time. So I used the little brush the palette comes with which I don’t think did a very good job representing the pigmentation of the shades.

Top to bottom: Tempera, Golden Ochre, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter, Cyprus Umber, Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe, Realgar

Sorry for the really awkward photo of my arm. I really am sorry. One day I’ll perfect the art of swatching but today is not that day. My favorite shade is definitely Love Letter – the name miiight have something to do with it, but it’s such a beautiful berry shade and I think it can be used to create really pretty eye looks. I still need to really try it out and play around with it some more, but so far, I am loving it. I tried it today and I was really impressed with how easily the shades blend.

Have you tried this palette yet? What are your first impressions? Don’t forget to like this post and leave a comment below if you enjoyed it!

  1. I also have this palette and did a review on it, but I must say, I really enjoyed reading yours. You’re funny!! Don’t be hard on yourself, you did an amazing job, and swatching with a brush is more realistic and a great idea!!! Look forward to reading more from you xoxo

  2. I haven’t got it but it’s on my wish list. It’s one of those ones I really want but it’s so expensive and I already have enough eyeshadow palettes, way more than enough, but the colours are so different so I’ll probably cave eventually.
