As you all know, and if you didn’t, now you’ll know, I am a massive fan of Colourpop. I have written multiple posts featuring their products, whether it’s a favorite’s, a review, or a haul, I love Colourpop. They are a really affordable brand, but despite it not being expensive, they produce great quality products. To this point, I’ve tried a little bit of everything: Ultra Satin Lip, Ultra Matte Lip, Ultra Glossy Lip, Lippie Stix in all their formulas, their super shock highlighter, their pressed eyeshadows, their eyeliners, and their pressed powders – blush & highlighter – now I am trying their most recent release, Ultra Blotted Lip and Blotted Lip.
I’ll be honest and confess I had tried their Blotted Lip before in the Alexis Ren collection, but at the time I wasn’t impressed. Getting a good enough pigmentation was really hard, the lipstick didn’t glide on smoothly, it just didn’t fulfill my expectations But they’re back. And better than ever.
There most recent release includes Ultra Blotted Lips – a new formula of liquid lipsticks -, and a new formula for their Blotted Lips. The idea behind a blotted lip is that it’s more natural, lightweight, and a lot less creamy than other formulas. I got four Ultra Blotted Lips and two Blotted Lips. These are the shades I got,
- Lolly Blotted Lip
- Bees Knee’s Blotted Lip
- Bit-O-Sunny Ultra Blotted Lip
- Doozy Ultra Blotted Lip
- Cherry on Top Ultra Blotted Lip
- Split Ultra Blotted Lip
I love both formulas, maybe the Ultra Blotted Lip (and sorry, I think I’ve said that word a million times by now) more than the Blotted Lip (there it is again). Mainly, because the liquid quality makes it easier to build up the colour than the stick. With both, there is the risk of looking patchy if you don’t apply it evenly, but I think it’s something that can be easily avoided.
I’ve read a lot of reviews and comments on the ultra formula being a bit too drying and I agree, but I also think since the formula is so lightweight, it is a lot more bearable than say an ultra matte lipstick. It is so lightweight I sometimes forget I have anything on, which is definitely not the case with their other formulas (not that this is a bad thing). I haven’t rocked all of them yet, but I was pleasantly surprised by Doozy. I am usually not a fan of peachy shades, but I love this one. My other favorite is Split – I was obsessed with this one ever since Colourpop swatched them in their Instagram stories.
I have been rocking a couple of them and you can check my Instagram if you want to see what they look like. If you’ve never tried Colourpop, I highly recommend the brand and definitely recommend these lipsticks. There is currently a 20% site wide and free shipping on domestic orders over $30 and international orders over $50 (which is not hard to achieve).
Let me know if you have any Colourpop favorite! I am always looking for excuses to justify my purchases.
p.s. Thank you if you made this far.
