My Favorite Concealers Review

Concealer is one of those things I think are a MUST in everyone’s makeup bag. Whether it is for dark circles, spots, blemishes, redness, etc, you need this in your life!! If you’re someone who leans more towards the natural side, but still want to cover some things, concealer is what you need to invest on. Lately, I have become concealer obsessed and have been trying a couple of things, both drugstore and high-end and thought I’d share them with you! I somehow feel like even though I’ve found some great concealers, I don’t think I’ve found the perfect concealer for ME, so please leave any recommendations in the comments below! It will be greatly appreciated.

So, let’s begin!

Rimmel London Match Perfection Concealer

Much like the foundation, I think this is a great product, but I really hate the applicator. It’s like this weird brush thing that you have to squeeze in order to get the product to come out. It provides a decent amount of coverage, but nothing life-changing. I first heard about it because I think Zoella did a drugstore haul where she tried new things and this was one of them. I can only speak about dark circles, since I don’t really have any other skin concerns, but I think she mentioned it being better for blemishes and spots.

NARS Soft Matte Concealer

I really want to looooove this concealer, but I don’t. Don’t get me wrong, it is great, it is high-coverage, but I don’t think it’s my everyday undereye concealer. I usually use it when I’m running late, mainly because it’s quick to apply and to blend, but if I’m not running late, I usually reach for others. I do think it would be a much better concealer to cover spots, but for undereye, I sometimes find it hard to work with. Have you tried this before? With everyone raving about it, I really feel like I need to love it.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle

Lots of beauty bloggers have raved about this before! It really is a great concealer given the price. I also think that because of the packaging, it would be a good thing to bring with you when you travel or to keep in your purse if you ever need a touch-up. I sometimes found its consistency a little bit hard to work with, but nothing that would stop me from repurchasing once mine’s out.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer  (if this is in-stock when you look for it, get it!)

Okay, this is the best thing ever! I am sure you’ve read thousands of reviews raving about this concealer, loving it, obsessing over it, and I’ll be one more. This is a high-coverage concealer, this is usually what I pair up with the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD concealer for the perfect coverage. The texture is super creamy and I think it can be hard to overuse it, I see a lot of Instagram makeup videos where they just go at it, and that’s too much for me. I usually add a couple of dots on my face under both eyes and blend out with a beauty blender. I have two shades, mainly because I don’t really have a really defined undertone so I can get away with using products with both pink and yellow undertones depending on what I’m feeling.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer

If you’re not familiar with these concealers, Make Up For Ever has some concealer shades and some color correcting shades. In my case, this is a color corrector. I attended a Sephora Beauty class to learn about highlighting and contour and they recommended it to me and I have been obsessed ever since. I usually use it along with another concealer, that provides a bit more coverage and also lightens up my undereye. I use my finger to apply this and then finish with a beauty blender, as I want this to focus in my undereye, unlike concealer that you want to have the triangle. This is the only color correcting product I use, so if you’re interested in something like this, I highly recommend you go to your closest Sephora location and ask one of the representatives to help you find the right shade for you!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Concealer

This was my first high-end concealer and I love it! It is not my favorite (that spot is taken by its Tarte sibling), but it’s still a great concealer! I really have just been LOVING Tarte lately. The packaging is lovely, and it provides great coverage. I have heard amazing things about the foundation lately as well and I’ve been thinking of picking it up. Let me know if I should!

  1. Awww the instant age rewind is my life. I use it for under my eyes all the time or even just priming before eyeshadow. It works so well. Every time I go into the store and look for tape shape, It’s allllwaaayyssss sold out 😦 xxxxx

      1. Where are you located?? It’s only available at Ulta or Tarte’s website, and I THINK you can go to Ulta and have them order it for you which means you don’t have to pay for shipping. I know Sephora does this as well (but they don’t sell this concealer – it’s Ulta exclusive)

  2. What’s your routine when you use the shape tape? I can’t seem to make it work. I’m not sure if it’s the moisturizer, primer, or foundation I use underneath because it goes on looking strange and not smooth. I’ve tried using a lot like most youtubers and when that didn’t work, I applied only a few dots. Still no luck. It’s just way too patchy.
    Help 😦

      1. That’s so weird! I would try going to the store and checking to see if the consistency is the same in case you got a defective one. Also, what are your steps? I do foundation and then concealer and use damp beauty blender (i had a hard time with the real techniques). I even do a color correcting under the concealer. I see that you’re in Texas too! I would go to Sephora/Ulta and tell them what’s been happening. If you go to a good store with great sales representatives, they’ll be able to provide more help specific to your skin type! Hopefully, they can help you figure it out.

      2. I’ve done that exact order as well. I even tried it without putting foundation under since I figured it wasn’t combining well. Then I tried using my finger which didn’t help. Maybe I should try switching sponges. If not, I think you might be right about getting a defective one. I’ll go back to Ulta to go check them out. I just really want it to work!
