Even though Memorial Day sales are not as known/popular as Thanksgiving’s Black Friday, there are a lot of businesses and retailers that hold Memorial Day sales. I took this as an opportunity to pick up a couple of things, and probably my last beauty purchases for a while as I will be heading home to Colombia for an extended summer break. No worries, I still have plenty of products to review and I’ll be sharing some travel posts in the next few months as well.
My most exciting purchase (at least for me), are some Sigma brushes. I’ve been watching Zoella videos for a while and in most, if not all, makeup tutorials she uses a Sigma brush and has raved about them in numerous occasions. But, Sigma is not like Real Techniques. They’re not exactly an affordable brand and I had never wanted to make the plunge. During Memorial Day they had their “Best of Sigma” set on sale and I decided to go for it and added a blending brush because these always seem to come in handy. The Best of Sigma Brush Set comes with,
- F80 – Flat Kabuki: Application of liquid or cream products to flat areas of the face such as the forehead and cheeks.
- P88 – Precision Flat Angled: Precise application of concealer products anywhere on the face. Works particularly well around the eyes and nose
- F64 – Soft Blend Concealer: Buffing and evening out concealer applied with a light hand on large areas or all-over the face.
- E57 – Firm Shader: Apply intense colors all over lid for a controlled color finish.
- E38 – Diffused Crease: Blend strong color into crease for a diffused effect.
- E34 – Domed Utility: Applying intense color to the crease or to add depth to the outer crease using darker shades.
- E21 – Smudge: Apply and smudge color onto the upper and lower lash lines.
In addition to these, I added the E40 – Tapered Blending Brush. I haven’t had the time to sit down and do a proper makeup look trying these out, but I will have the time soon, so let me know if you want a review of these! If you’ve been thinking about getting them but are unsure, let me know and I’d love to give you my honest opinion.
I also picked up a couple of things at Sephora. They didn’t have a Memorial Day sale per say, but they had good promotions going on. I had been thinking about picking up Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Wiz. I have been using Rimmel London Brow This Way Brow Sculpting Kit, and I still love it but wanted to give pencil a go. I have really enjoyed it so far, still having a hard time not making hard strokes and keeping it natural so if anyone has any tips, leave a comment below!
IT Cosmetics was also having a sort of sale, and I am obsessed with the Your Skin but Better CC Cream so I thought I’d pick up a second one for when I ‘ll be gone. The promotion consisted of purchasing the full-size cc cream and getting free samples of Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream and Confidence in a Cream. I was pleasantly surprised with the size and packaging of the samples and so far I have been loving the under eye cream. This promotion is still available and you can find it here.
On top of that, there was a promo code to get the following samples, Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Quickie Contour Stick, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Poreless Finish Airbrush Pressed Powder and the CLINIQUE High Impact Mascara. I have seen people rave about the Hoola Contour Stick and this gave me the perfect opportunity to try it out. And is there a thing such as too much IT Cosmetics? If you’re in the U.S. really make the most of the Sephora website, on top of the free samples you can select at checkout, they always have promotions where you can get deluxe samples with your purchases.
I hope you enjoyed this “mini” haul and leave your thoughts in the comments below! Did you pick up anything this Memorial weekend?
