My Nighttime Skincare Routine

Helloo again! If you missed my last review on the e.l.f. Hydrating Bubble Mask, you can read it here.

Si quieren leer la version en Español, la pueden leer aqui.

Today, I will be sharing with you all my nighttime skincare routine. I don’t really have an extensive list of products, I was blessed with a somewhat cooperative skin, but I still like to treat it well. My main thing is to ALWAYS, ALWAYS remove my makeup before going to bed. I usually like to do it an hour or so before I go to bed, to give my skin some breathing time and let the moisturizer sink in. I’ve tried a lot of different makeup wipes, and I love the Pixi Beauty Double Cleanse (except for the fact that it’s too messy and I’m too lazy), but my number one is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. They have different versions (for waterproof makeup, mattifying, and there are even more versions in other countries), but I love the normal one.

The micellar water is both a cleanser and a makeup remover so you really feel like it takes everything away. There isn’t a need to wash it off or do anything else, so this really is the perfect product for all the lazy girls out there. They sell travel sizes which are perfect as there should never be an excuse to not remove your makeup before you go to bed. You will go through an extensive amount of cotton pads so be warned!

Next step is Pixi Beauty’s Glow Tonic. According to the Pixi website, this

  • Exfoliates and purifies the skin with Glycolic Acid
  • Ginseng improves circulation and energizes
  • Aloe vera soothes and hydrates
  • Refines the appearance of pores
  • Gently accelerates cell renewal to reveal a brighter, glowing complexion
  • Balances, heals and soothes for radiant, healthier looking skin

Basically, it’s just something you need in your life. My local Target only ever carries the medium, 100ml size and it’s so frustrating. I use this both in the morning and at night after cleansing.

The third and final step is the Garnier Miracle Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Cream. This is nothing too crazy or life changing but it just gives my skin that extra bit of moisture and assistance to get me through the night. According to the site, this product is supposed to make you wake up rested and to younger-looking skin. To some extent, I think there are products that do a way better job than this one and if you have bigger skin concerns this is not the product for you, but if you just need a little night booster, I would definitely recommend it.

Honestly, I try not too overwhelm my skin with too many things. I’ve found that sometimes the more product I use, the more issues my skin has so I try to steer away and just give my skin a little bit at a time.

What are some of the products you’ve been using before going to bed every night?

  1. I really want to try Pixi Glow Tonic, but I am just not sure how my skin is going to react. But I think I might pick up at Target the next time that I stop by. My daily night routine includes: Garnier Miscellar Water – Mattifying Cleanser, Kiehls Blue Herbal Cleanser, and Kiehls Amazonian Clay Moisturizer. My skin is loving this routine, but I usually alternate cleansers.

    1. You really should! I’ve read and watched multiple reviews and people with sensitive skin say it’s not too harsh on their skin. I would definitely try the small bottle first and maybe just a side of your face? How do you like the mattifying cleanser? I’d think it’s a bit drying but I haven’t tried it. And I agree! I find that alternating products is definitely good, but I’m so lazy with the makeup removers micellar water has just been a life saver.

      1. I really want something that will make my skin look less dull and I have heard that the Pixi toner works well…I don’t use the mattifying one every day, so far I think that keeps it from drying out my skin. My favorite makeup remover is the Glossier Milky Cleanser, it makes my skin feel super clean and hydrated.

    1. Ohh do you use cetaphil’s liquid cleanser? I’ve heard tons of people rave about it but never tried it myself. And yes! I had no idea I needed toner in my life until I finally caved and tried this one and it’s been amazing ever since.

  2. I’m always on the lookout for new products to try out for my skin and I actually haven’t used or heard of any of these! I literally love anything with the word water in it since my skin can be somewhat dry and i’m always on the lookout for a good makeup remover so i’m really excited to try this out. Also, your photos are absolutely beautiful!

    1. Thank you!!! And can’t believe you haven’t used Garnier’s micellar water. I feel like everyone has said something about it in the last six months. Let me know if you decide to try any of these and how you like them!

  3. I totally agree with you, I feel like the more products I use, the more disturbed my skin gets. The second I simplify my skincare, my skin starts behaving again. It’s true what they say, sometimes less is more.

      1. I only use 2 or 3 at a time but I have a bunch of different products I rotate through. Right now I’m *loving* the Estée Lauder advanced repair serum and night cream and the Clinique take it away lotion to remove my make up. I can see a real difference in my skin

  4. I love Garnier’s micellar water! It’s gentle yet removes everything. It’s a staple product of mine.
Back in January, I incorporated products with glycolic acid into my skincare routine, and it’s been a game changer without a doubt. I feel like I haven’t had to battle many breakouts or texture issues. I’m going to have to check out that Pixi Glow Tonic!
I agree with you about keeping face products to a minimum. I always used to use so many things on my skin, but I finally found a simple routine that works.

    1. You should definitely try Glow Tonic! I would start with the smaller bottle (the one pictured) just to make sure it does work for your skin but I haven’t found anyone who has had any issues using it. And the Micellar water is everything!! I don’t think they’re selling it in drugstores and grocery stores in Colombia so I am bringing to full sized bottles with me and two travel sized 🙈
